An Overview of Mississippi’s Drug Trends

Per the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, there were approximately 350 deaths in 2018 from accidental overdose of opioids. Is this Mississippi’s most troubling drug, or is it cocaine, crack, Fentanyl, kratom, flakka, marijuana, spice, alcohol, white powder, brown powder or black tar heroin? This workshop will update participants on what is occurring with illicit drugs in the State of Mississippi.

Educational Objectives

After completing this course, participants will:

  • Be able to identify the increase or decrease in illicit drugs.
  • Be able to identify the type of drug that is most prevalent on the streets.
  • Be able to identify the counties in the State of Mississippi with the highest number of arrests, overdoses, and admissions to rehabilitation for substance use disorders.
