Educational Objectives

  • Describe and define motivational interviewing.
  • Discuss the conditions under which most clients are willing to attempt behavioral change (the change trifecta: importance, confidence, readiness).
  • Demonstrate beginning proficiency with core client-centered counseling skills including asking open-ended questions, affirming, reflecting, and summarizing (OARS).
