This course will be a combination of didactic and experiential learning. The primary focus will be to gain a basic understanding of The ASAM Criteria, Third Edition. This course will illustrate how to utilize the ASAM six dimensions of a multidimensional assessment, risk domains, risk rating scale, levels of care, in addition it will incorporate the DSM-5 criteria to determine appropriate client placement.

- Understand the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria in order for use in a clinical setting
- Understand the differences between the Levels of Care
- Make appropriate recommendations using both The ASAM Criteria and the DSM-5
